Just spent the last couple of hours with a guy i consider to be my mentor. Of course i am going to blow my cover by admitting in this blog that i tremble at the thought of meeting with him! (Fear)
I know that he is going to ask me the questions that matter - he is going to pursue my thinking - that my wriggling and waffling and any lack of clarity will be sweetly and calmly pointed out. Never ever does he raise his voice - not even his eyebrow. Never ever does he make me feel foolish. BUT - at the end of two hours i have a list as long as my arm of things that 'i might like to think about...'. things that 'i might like to do' - and most importantly a renewed energy that makes me feel brave enough to do the things that I have to do.
All fear is replaced by joy and excitement by the end of the meeting. His knowledge, skills and abilities focused on helping, supporting and encouraging me.
I have said it before - mentors make the difference - what do you think?
By the way - I have asked you what you think because a guy called Daniel sent me a message in response to a question i asked sometime ago - re. how to make more use of the web. Daniel's was the best response i got. He spoke in plain english - he clearly pointed me to web sites that would teach me the things that i want to learn - he shared his knowledge with me and gave me some instant practical tips on how i could improve my blogs. Yup - ask more questions of my readers! Thanks Daniel.
So today I have been mentored in the real and online world. Thank you to all mentors everywhere.
