Today I was in Poland working with Kasia (congratulations on the wedding last month) to develop the new contracts we have won and looking for new ways to provide more opportunities to help those out of work in Poland. As we bounced ideas around we received an invitation to form a group as part of the British Polish Chamber of Commerce to drive new strategy around the human capital agenda.
Kasia asked me what should be the subject around which we form the group I launched into my soap box about;
• Wanting those furthest away from the labour market to be able to get their place in the labour market
• How we must ensure nobody gets left behind
• That poverty mustn’t be a life sentence
• And how the employers in Poland needed the skills of everybody not just a few
• That it is a social injustice to be left on the side because some may consider you a tough case or classify you as hard to help
• That we had to look at the way in which everybody can benefit from the amazing success story which Poland has become with strong economic growth
• That we have to find the keys to open the opportunities for the disenfranchised
• How employers will come on board and welcome employees from different backgrounds providing they can make a contribution to the organisation regardless of colour, creed, race etc
• That it can’t be right for women to be behind the kitchen sink, people over 50+ consigned to drawing small pensions, offenders to be written off, young people leaving to secure jobs elsewhere
• And that I want everybody’s boat to be floated by the tide of economic growth in Poland, not left behind, but a full part of the success story which is Poland today…….
And Kasia said “Ok Roy lets call the group “Growth for All” now what sandwich do you want for lunch.”
So there you go. Growth for All is launched in Poland. We will be pulling together the great, the good and the connected to put down some ideas and see if we can add some value to the crusade here in Poland.
Now I’ll get that sandwich……..
