Sunday 7th October 2007, 17:30The Power of Blogging

Just imagine - ten years ago - I might want some thoughts on a subject - and did not know who to turn to. Perhaps I had already heard the thoughts of everyone I knew and anyone I did not know wanted to charge me for sharing their thoughts. (Yes - I have used consultants and not briefed them properly  - or they were plain rubbish - and ended up with a meaningless document that has done nothing to improve the state of my knowledge or even worse not given me any ideas.)  Ten years ago - I might want to have a chunter about something - and I would have to pay for printers to publish my chunter - by which time I had lost my urge to chunt.

Then among other wonders of the modern world - along came blogs - miracles of the tiny screen. I can chuck questions out - I can incite a riot - I can ask for help - and people respond. There is no filtering on the responses - no collective wisdom - no standard answers or responses. To think extraordinary thoughts I need to hear extraordinary things - listen to the ideas of people who don't 'get it, who see the world differently from me, who are not thinking what I am thinking - and these people are definately out there!

The best bit - is that all that inspiration comes for free - some people love to share - all this techno stuff is allowing the sharers to really do what they do best. Super Share.

So thanks to all the people who respond to my blogs - even if is just to say that they read them - as I sit here at my desk - I am so happy I have this blogging thing. (also thanks to the IT dept. who set me up - you have made me very happy.)

ps I would like to read somebody elses blogs - anyone recommend some good ones?
