Monday 23rd July 2007, 00:31Poland UpdatePolish MPs

Last month we entertained a group of Polish MPs in our London offices. We felt very privileged that this group of elected representatives from Poland would travel to the UK to see our work at first hand. They wanted to see with their own eyes the way we help people from all communities find a way forward. They spoke to our customers and staff. They tested our ability to link these programmes into the needs of the people who live in Poland and are unemployed. After many hours we shared our insights. I have had the chance to travel and meet many people in Poland and we have honed down our concepts into workable projects that we believe will deliver significant benefit. We were supported on the day by our own Polish staff both from the UK and from Poland. At the end of our time together we had a shared and common understanding of our plans for Poland.

We are excited about starting our work in Poland. I have found Poland a country of hard working people who want better opportunities for themselves and their families. We have our key partners in place and I know that our shared values and commitment can bring about a new deal for the unemployed of Poland.

We also had a group of Polish people from the region of Krakow last week who came to see our work. We are excited about developing local projects which meet clearly defined needs.

My visits last month and our presentations of projects with EFS and projects for Disabled People met with much appreciation. Our existing project is a great success and we look forward to starting a new project later this year with TUS.

Do you want to work with A4e in Poland? Are you an organisation that would like to work with A4e on delivering these new programmes? Are you the government working at a regional or local level? Please contact me as we are starting to draft our programmes and partnerships. We hope to be running projects in each of the 16 regions by the end 2008. It would be great to do this work with you.

Thanks
