After so many years working in A4e with a team of dedicated people whose sole intent is to “Improve Peoples Lives” is many different ways I thought I would just draw breath.
Each time I get the chance to spend some time in one of our offices I see the dedication which the front line teams bring to their work. I leave the office humbled at the passion and one to one support offered to each of the friends we are working with in our centres.
I also see the way a job can transform a life. I know we do more than “just” get our friends into jobs and the financial inclusion team do wonderful stuff as do our teams working in prisons, but I hope all the other teams in A4e will forgive me for drawing us all back to the power of getting somebody a job.
It chances the soul, the confidence, the pocket, the perception, the respect and self respect and many, many other aspects of people’s lives.
And I know I am sometimes a daft dreamer, and I know that for some of our friends they are engaged on a longer journey and the distance travelled towards a job is a great first step.
So I am sorry if I live beyond the realms of possibility, but wouldn’t it be great if 100% of our friends in our centres could all walk into jobs. Could we transform more people, lift more souls from despair and change more families if we tweaked, innovated, reviewed, renewed, and changed a small element of what we do each day to transform more lives?
If not 100% can we renew our spirit and lift another person into a job today?
