I just want to thank everyone who took part in this year’s One Vision. It was really good for the soul to meet up with old friends and make new friends. I always enjoy catching up on all the new issues we are tackling and the innovative ways local teams are working to support our customers to Improve their Lives. Sara and her team deserve our warmest thanks for an exhilarating event – thank you.
The presentations from the group feedback sessions were excellent I shouldn’t be amazed but I was amazed at the energy, creativity and passion which go into these breakout groups. I keep thinking of the concept of BLING (Brining Life Into Next Generation) as a concept for tackling youth crime and violence. We must not loose the energy around this concept and I know Rob Murdoch is collecting feedback and updates on how we can progress these themes. A review of the recruiter role, and the commitment Kate helped us all make to finding £55,000 of funding to Improve More Peoples Lives helped to provide a focus for our efforts moving forward.
I was so impressed with the groups who had been able to make calls and gain appointments during the workshops and Sally’s team who discovered they had secured a new contract for £500,000 – wonderful – well done.
It was good to be able to welcome Bob Martin to the company and hear Mark’s vision for Global Public Services; we have through Mark a wonderful insight for our future shaping a public service agenda from a people perspective and “place shaping” concept.
I felt the international context in which the whole of One Vision was set inspired all of us to understand the greater impact our own work is having on people all round the world. It was exciting to hear the different languages and exchanges being made by individuals who were learning that all the different parts of our business operate and hold dear our common principles even though the operating environment in each county may be very different. Improving Peoples Lives is an enduring and relevant theme for our work and is one which all governments wish to hear and form partnerships with us to tackle their toughest issues.
We also got the chance to celebrate some of the ways in which our friends find amazing ways to Improve Peoples Lives and each story was a testament to their passion and commitment for the work they do, everyday.
It was a great privilege for me to get the chance to thank Emma on behalf of all the teams in A4e for the commitment she has made to Improving Peoples Lives over the last 20 years. Emma you are an amazing person, you help all of us pursue our career aspirations and add real value to people in our communities, making our world a better place to live in for us and our children. The power of Emma’s vision shines as bright today as it did 20 years ago. And all over the world there are people and communities who walk that bit taller and with a greater sense of pride due to her energy and leadership.
Thanks Emma for giving us all the chance to shine in our own way, and be proud of how we can contribute to Improving the Lives of the People we meet along the way. Back to posts by Roy NeweyContact Roy Newey
