Thursday 14th December 2006, 10:23Thank you Wales

I have just returned from my two day trip to Wales. I had a great time - visiting some A4e offices and meeting learners, clients and staff.

A big hello to Leon Campbell and Aaron Dawes (see I did give you a mention). Two young men who asked me some smart questions and had plenty of confidence and opinions. I thought Leon and Aaron ought to think about starting a business. They definately had the ability to create their own exciting future. Good luck to you both.

Leon and Aaron were based in our Newport centre. A superb place. I told the managers Maria and Fran that I thought Newport and its staff were truly superb. Why so good?

Based on my simple obsevation - all clients and learners were very, very engaged with their work - there was laughter, questions, concentration, activity, projects, creativity, study, interaction and above all a driving sense of purpose in every room i went into to. It was the one of the best examples i have ever seen. Well done to everyone involved.

It was rather funny really - I was there to meet people and listen to their thoughts - fat chance! People were so busy and involved in their learning that they did not have time to talk to me!!! I had to beg then to stop for a few minutes... Good stuff.

So, I am left with a thought that all our centres should feel like Newport - I get very frustrated when I see we offer anything less than this. When I see people who look bored, with not enough to do and not enough encouragement being offered.  ummmm...

While I was in Newport i mentioned a free website called businessballs.com to the managers. It is packed full of great tutor stuff, quizzes, guidance, buisness tips - all sorts. Needless to say - they are all ready on to it - and digging out the treasures on this free web site. Have a look at the website.

So, thank you Wales - I learnt loads - you gave me some new thoughts and I was very impressed with your work. Be back soon...

Yours

Emma
