Another question from my mate Edd in County Durham.   He asks:

''What inspires you? Most people will say that inspiration comes from seeing how you can make a difference and reflection on making that difference - hence the company motto 'improving people's lives.' But I think people would like to know what keeps you inspired, motivated etc.''

I am inspired by many things - I seek and find inspiration everywhere.

Meeting someone who tells me their story. Watching a person work  - a person who has passion, creativity and a love of what they do. Listening to talented people who have a light in their eyes. Reading well written stuff. Science, podcasts! Great films. Eccentric friends. Visiting a new bit of the business - that I have not been to before - listening to the people and their passion. Sitting quietly and allowing other people's voices to flow through my head. 

What motivates me? Loads of stuff - The excitement of finding something new and inspirational. A fear of failure or someone saying I didn't care enough. My kids thinking I'm quirky and interesting. Other people - never wanting to let someone down. A rip roaring gut churning determination to show that businesses can be built on sound principals - and continuing to prove that 'doing well by doing good' is a great way to run a business.
