I apologise for returning to a theme which I have picked up before in these blogs. The design and layout of our offices has been a defining feature for A4e over the years. The bright colour, open plan, shared kitchen facilities, sofas, friendly style, open plan, fresh fruit, quality furnishings, notice boards and positive feel have all contributed to A4e creating a new place in the market for our customers.
Brilliant.
When we bring along our international visitors they always remark on our unique premises. And when we look at our competitors it.. Roy NeweyView Complete Post Tuesday 16th October 2007, 10:24Hospital Redesigns........New Design

Over the last few months I (like many of you) have had the chance to relax and enjoy your family during a holiday. Perhaps you took off on your own to pursue a sport or interest; friends of mine took holidays this year to pursue interests in beer, food, books, art, motor bikes, camping and an opportunity to help others.
I enjoyed a wonderful holiday with my family where we spent time together in a new environment and saw new things, walked in new places and returned home rejuvenated by the experience.
I have spent time in our centres and listening t..Roy NeweyView Complete Post Wednesday 10th October 2007, 20:50Residential, mad, sad or a new way to Improve Peoples Lives?Residential
Over the years we have offered residential inputs as part of a programme for our clients. When the government budgets tightened many years back they became a casualty of our menu of options. However, over the last few months I have had the chance to visit a few residential operations around the world which offer much more than a canoeing weekend of a rope ladder confidence building session.
I have been reminded of the power of taking people out of their day to day environment and submerging people in a new environment with 24*7 impacts. The residential I hav..Roy NeweyView Complete Post Wednesday 10th October 2007, 20:40Innovation - fly to the moon or reach for the stars?Innovation
Last week we held a workshop with a number of people from Business Development, Marketing and Sales. The purpose of the workshop was to look at Innovation and how we can drive innovation within A4e.
We looked at a number of examples of innovation and how they impact on our life, pumps vs. trainers, records vs. iPods, cash vs. debit cards, library vs. internet and finally landlines vs. mobile phones. Although a few in the group are still very attached to their old black pumps, a trip to the library, cash in their pockets, and a gramophone record under their ar..Roy NeweyView Complete Post Monday 8th October 2007, 14:43How to keep in touchMonday today - quite quiet for me. Not too many meetings - no journeys to make. Very nice. Aaaaahhh - a bit of peace....
Not for long...
Tomorrow and Wednesday are my 'In conversation with Emma' Days.
What on earth are they you might be asking?
Well - I think they are a little stroke of genius. Remembering right back to when my company was really small - just a handful of people - and all the chats we had - and the fact that so many ideas came from the casual conversations and simply bumping into each other over a coffee - how do you still get .. eharrisonView Complete Post Sunday 7th October 2007, 17:30The Power of BloggingJust imagine - ten years ago - I might want some thoughts on a subject - and did not know who to turn to. Perhaps I had already heard the thoughts of everyone I knew and anyone I did not know wanted to charge me for sharing their thoughts. (Yes - I have used consultants and not briefed them properly - or they were plain rubbish - and ended up with a meaningless document that has done nothing to improve the state of my knowledge or even worse not given me any ideas.) Twenty years since I started - and I am still not sure...
This all has to do with when I meet some people in business and other entrepreneurs. I often find myself feeling I am talking a different language. Somewhere we misunderstand each other. I am sure that when they ask me what we do - and my reply is 'improve people's lives' - they think me quite mad and then their next thought is that A4e must be a charity. They then go on to discover that A4e is a s.. eharrisonView Complete Post
